2. Food additives are banned from Organic food as they are linked to some health and behavioural problems.

3. Chemical pesticides are routinely used in conventional farming and the residues can find their way into the food chain. Organic farmers do not routinely use chemical sprays.

4. Genetically modified (GM) crops and ingredients are banned under organic standards.

5. There is growing concern about the high use of antibiotics on farm animals and the possible effects on human health. Organic standards prohibit the routine use of antibiotics.

6. Organic food comes from trusted sources. All organic farms and food companies are inspected at least once a year. The standards for organic food are laid down in European law.

7. The welfare of animals is taken very seriously under organic standards. All organic meat comes from animals that are kept in more natural, free range conditions.

8. Because Organic farmers avoid the use of harmful pesticides and fertilizers, there is far less impact on the environment. Quite simply Organic farming works in harmony with nature!

9. Many people prefer organic food because they say it tastes better.
